Overview

A native to the West, immigrating from Alberta, Canada, is Dr. Kyara Finney. Dr. Finney graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, and has been practicing Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractic since 2021. She was an associate for the founder of the Advanced HIO Knee Chest Upper Cervical technique, Dr. Steven Simmons in Michigan, and was certified in Blair Upper Cervical technique in 2020 under Dr. Todd Hubbard.

Dr. Finney loves helping patients who suffer from Migraines, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Seizures, Post-Concussion Syndromes, unexplainable debilitating pain, and so much more. She also cares for pregnant women and babies because she believes a well-functioning nervous system is optimal for the development of both mother and child.

The passion that Dr. Finney holds for her care and her patients stems from her past of dealing with severe unexplainable pain at a young age after a horse accident that left her with a knockout concussion. She had tried every avenue of care and even tried traditional Chiropractic, but nobody was able to help or had any answers. Three years of this went by and Dr. Finney was ready to give up. Thankfully, a friend had told her to see an Upper Cervical Chiropractor and by no stretch of the imagination, she left that office pain-free after her first adjustment and knew that this was her calling. Now, Dr. Finney searches for those that deal with these debilitating conditions to not just only help restore normal nervous system function but to restore hope to those that don’t have the answers yet.

Dr. Finney spends most of her time with her wonderful, caring husband, Dr. Jonathan Finney, and their two dogs, Nelly and Duke. She loves educating people on non-toxic lifestyles, making delicious and nutritious recipes, yoga, CrossFit, camping, hiking, horses, and really everything outdoors.

Her Story

I was deemed with so many health issues as I was growing up; EVERYTHING under the sun from hormonal imbalances/irregular cycles to being chronically sick with strep throat & tonsilitis. I did not grow up with chiropractic care being implemented when I was younger, yet we had our horses adjusted regularly during the rodeo season. My parents, as many people do, had believed that chiropractic was specifically for neck and back pain, but not for other health issues like immunity or healthy growth/development.

So it wasn’t until I was 16 and had a major horse accident where I ended up getting a severe concussion and whiplash that I started looking for chiropractic care because I ended up in severe pain EVERYWHERE. With that being said, I was suffering from the traditional post-concussion-like symptoms that for about 3 months following, however nothing “too major” UNTIL 6 months after when my TMJ flared up (which it felt like I broke my jaw). Another 6 months following that, I started having rib pain, low back pain, and severe neck pain. This all led to my spine essentially being twisted from “head-to-toe” and where I felt it most, was my achilles tendon; it felt like it was so tight, that it was going to tear at any given moment. This went on for years and I tried literally everything; I was ready to cut my leg off.

Until my friend with MS told me about an upper cervical chiropractor back in Alberta, Canada.

Well long story short, I left his office after my first adjustment and was pain-free for the first time in a long time, where it felt like I was walking straight again! So I went for a run that night, and I cried because after 4 long years filled with excruciating pain, I wasn’t in pain anymore.

After that I made up my mind and wanted to go to school to become an upper cervical chiropractor. I wanted to give people the hope I was given after so many years of suffering. I encourage others to try upper cervical chiropractic for many reasons but to ultimately get their body to function optimally and to be able to live your best life for as long you can!

My son has had one headache in 4 months. One! And his sensory issues are not even a thing anymore.
Dr. Jon and Kyara are amazing!!! I lived with severe neck and shoulder pain for 5 years, trying everything you can think of for relief. Nothing helped. One day I saw a video on Instagram that just spoke to me. It was everything I was experiencing. The videos are so informative. I called that day and set an appointment. Kyara asked me before my first adjustment if I was ready for the first day of my new life and in my mind I truly wasn’t convinced that it was going to be as magical as it has been. I’ve been there and tried that so I was hopeful but not 100% convinced. She was right, it was the first day of my new life. My pain is nothing like it was, it used to be all I could think about. I’m not perfect yet but I’m on my way there. Peak Chiropractic has changed my life. Best decision I have ever made for myself. My son (13) got a scan for frequent headaches and sensory issues. Dr. Jon had me bring him in for a scan and again was hopeful but not fully convinced and once again they were right. My son has had one headache in 4 months. One! And his sensory issues are not even a thing anymore. It has been amazing for him and I’m so grateful he is getting treatment as well. On top of all the goodness we have had since starting we also feel cared for by both Dr. Jon and Kyara. They feel like family and care about us. Kyara is also super into all around health and I am always learning things from her each time I go. Definitely life changing all the way around and I highly recommend checking them out. You will not be disappointed!

I was quite impressed with the technology used to assess my neck and spine.
I started my care with Peak back in mid February. I had never heard of a cervical chiropractor, until my daughter convinced me to try it. I had been dealing with shoulder/neck pain periodically, off and on, never quite getting rid of it. My last experience with a chiropractor left me injured and not feeling very confident about ever using chiropractic care again. Upon beginning my care with Peak, I began to see that this was different then anything i had ever heard of before. I was quite impressed with the technology used to assess my neck and spine. I began my adjustments, and was informed I would go through a detox with my body. Some weeks I was feeling great, and some weeks i definitely was feeling more pain. After about four weeks of regular adjustments, I probably had my worst week of pain! The following week was my best week, in fact, I didn’t even need to be adjusted. I am excited to continue my care with Dr. John and Dr. Kyara! As time moves forward, I am seeing more and more improvement. My body is beginning to recover on its own when i have been through excess stress or exertion. Before, my body was “stuck” in pain, and now it’s beginning to bounce back on its own. Dr John and Dr Kyara are both very kind, compassionate professionals. If you are on the fence about jumping in to cervical chiropractic care, take the plunge! The only thing you have to lose is your pain and discomfort!

What Military Neck Actually Is

Military Neck Treatment in Boise: Restoring Your Natural Neck Curve

"Military neck" is the nickname for what happens when that curve flattens out, straightens, or in some cases reverses. The name comes from the rigid, at-attention posture it can create, like a soldier standing very upright. You may also hear it called loss of cervical lordosis or cervical kyphosis. Whatever it's called, the core issue is the same: the neck has lost the natural curve it's supposed to have.

Migraine Treatment in Boise: Calming the Nervous System With Upper Cervical Care

If you live with migraines, you already know they are nothing like an ordinary headache. The light that suddenly feels too bright, the nausea, the pressure that can steal an entire day — these aren't a matter of "just pushing through." At Peak Upper Cervical Center here in Boise, we look at migraines a little differently. Instead of only chasing the pain when it hits, we ask why your nervous system is tipping into a migraine in the first place.
