The Hidden Connection Between Old Injuries and Neurological Conditions

Do you suffer from migraines, vertigo, fibromyalgia, or other neurological conditions? Have you ever had a head or neck injury—maybe years ago—that you barely thought about? Many people don’t realize that past whiplash, concussions, or falls can lead to long-term neurological dysfunction. If this sounds familiar, your symptoms may be linked to upper cervical misalignment, and it’s time to address the root cause.

Did an Old Injury Set the Stage for Your Symptoms?

Many patients who come to Peak Chiropractic with neurological conditions have a history of head or neck trauma, even if it happened years ago. Think back—have you experienced any of the following?

  • A motor vehicle accident causing whiplash
  • A concussion from a fall or sports injury
  • A slip or fall that impacted your head or neck
  • A horseback riding, snowboarding, or skiing accident
  • Any other impact to your head or spine

These types of injuries can dislodge the top two bones in your spine—the atlas (C1) and axis (C2)—from their proper alignment.

How an Old Misalignment Can Lead to Neurological Issues

When the C1 and C2 vertebrae are misaligned, they don’t just affect the spine—they impact the entire nervous system. Over time, the misalignment can cause:

  • Restricted blood flow to the brain
  • Increased pressure on the brainstem
  • Poor nervous system communication, leading to symptoms like:
    • Chronic migraines and headaches
    • Dizziness and vertigo
    • Fibromyalgia and widespread pain
    • Trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain
    • Multiple sclerosis (MS) symptom aggravation

Since these misalignments often go unnoticed, many people don’t connect their symptoms to an old injury. But as the body compensates for the instability, neurological dysfunction can worsen over time.

The Solution: Restoring Alignment, Restoring Health

If an old injury is at the root of your health issues, the first step to recovery is getting evaluated by an upper cervical chiropractic specialist. At Peak Chiropractic, we use precise imaging technology to check for misalignments in the atlas and axis.

If misalignment is found, we create a customized adjustment plan to:

  • Gently realign the C1 and C2 vertebrae
  • Restore proper nervous system function
  • Allow your body to heal naturally

By addressing the root cause instead of just managing symptoms, we help reset your body’s ability to heal, getting you back on the path to optimal health.

If this sounds like your experience, schedule a consultation today—your body deserves a second chance at healing.

I have previously seen another practitioner in the valley, but I was never able to get relief
I love Peak Chiropractic! I’ve suffered from upper cervical pain for about 10 years and it was gradually getting worse. I have previously seen another practitioner in the valley, but I was never able to get relief and have my adjustment hold. I highly recommend Peak chiropractic.

Since starting upper cervical chiropractic, there have been lasting changes in my upper and lower back
I have used conventional chiropractic (spinal manipulation, actuators, etc) for over 40 years. These adjustments never held or stabilized my issues. Since starting upper cervical chiropractic, there have been lasting changes in my upper and lower back and in my right hip. I have been to the Peak office for over 4 months now and am completely excited that as I enter my 80’s, I have had these significant improvements in my physical being. Thank you Peak staff!

What you eat has a direct impact on your nervous system. Chronic inflammation slows nerve signaling, amplifies pain, and worsens conditions like migraines and vertigo. The good news is that the right foods can make a meaningful difference — especially when paired with upper cervical care.

Most people treat their gut and their nervous system as separate systems. They're not.
