Understanding Concussions

A concussion is a type of brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head and body. Concussions can result in a variety of symptoms, ranging from mild to severe, and can have lasting effects if not properly managed. It is crucial to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion for early intervention and effective treatment.

Signs and Symptoms of a Concussion

Common signs and symptoms of a concussion include headache, dizziness, confusion, memory loss, nausea, and sensitivity to light and noise. These symptoms can appear immediately after the injury or may develop over time. Recognizing these symptoms is essential for seeking timely medical attention and preventing further complications.

How Chiropractic Care Helps with Concussions

Chiropractic care focuses on maintaining proper spinal alignment and supporting the body's natural healing processes. For individuals recovering from a concussion, chiropractic adjustments can help reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and alleviate symptoms such as headaches and neck pain. Chiropractic care also includes recommendations for rest and lifestyle modifications to support recovery.

Military neck compared to normal cervical curve alignment

Military Neck Treatment in Boise

Military Neck Treatment in Boise

"Military neck" is the nickname for what happens when that curve flattens out, straightens, or in some cases reverses. The name comes from the rigid, at-attention posture it can create, like a soldier standing very upright. You may also hear it called loss of cervical lordosis or cervical kyphosis. Whatever it's called, the core issue is the same: the neck has lost the natural curve it's supposed to have.

Since starting upper cervical chiropractic, there have been lasting changes in my upper and lower back
I have used conventional chiropractic (spinal manipulation, actuators, etc) for over 40 years. These adjustments never held or stabilized my issues. Since starting upper cervical chiropractic, there have been lasting changes in my upper and lower back and in my right hip. I have been to the Peak office for over 4 months now and am completely excited that as I enter my 80’s, I have had these significant improvements in my physical being. Thank you Peak staff!

They are great people, and I always feel better walking out of the office
Peak Chiropractic has taken great care of me over the past few months. They are the only chiropractic clinic in Idaho with a full neck CT scan, which helps them better understand how to adjust you vs traditional X-rays. They are great people, and I always feel better walking out of the office!
