Understanding Bell’s Palsy

Bell's Palsy is a condition that occurs when the facial nerve becomes inflamed or compressed, leading to temporary facial paralysis or weakness. The exact cause is often unknown, though it's sometimes linked to viral infections. Symptoms can range from mild facial drooping to complete paralysis, along with pain, headaches, and difficulty closing one eye. While most cases resolve over time, chiropractic care can play a role in supporting nerve function and promoting faster recovery.

At Peak Chiropractic, we focus on gentle, non-invasive upper cervical adjustments that may relieve pressure on the facial nerve. This approach helps restore balance to your nervous system, encouraging your body to heal naturally.

Symptoms of Bell’s Palsy

  • Sudden weakness or paralysis on one side of the face
  • Difficulty closing one eye
  • Drooping mouth or eyelid
  • Loss of taste on the affected side
  • Facial pain or discomfort
  • Difficulty with facial expressions, such as smiling or frowning

Chiropractic care can help address these symptoms by reducing nerve pressure and improving nervous system function.

How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care Can Help

Upper cervical chiropractic care targets the alignment of the top bones in your spine, particularly the atlas vertebra. Misalignments in this area can disrupt the flow of nerve signals throughout your body, potentially contributing to Bell's Palsy. By correcting these misalignments, we aim to restore proper nerve communication, reduce inflammation, and support your body's ability to recover from facial paralysis.

Our chiropractic team at Peak Chiropractic takes a personalized approach to every patient, using gentle adjustments to align your upper cervical spine and enhance overall nervous system function.

They are great people, and I always feel better walking out of the office
Peak Chiropractic has taken great care of me over the past few months. They are the only chiropractic clinic in Idaho with a full neck CT scan, which helps them better understand how to adjust you vs traditional X-rays. They are great people, and I always feel better walking out of the office!

They are very personable and you can tell that genuinely care about your well being.
Very impressed with Peak since day one! The staff is absolutely amazing. They are very personable and you can tell that genuinely care about your well being. I have been dealing with weekly migraines for almost 20 years. I was never willing to go down a more traditional pharmaceutical path of treating symptoms. I wanted to get to the root cause which is literally Peak’s vision behind every patient. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I could not be more excited!

Was able to stand up straight for the first time in years, hip discomfort and shoulder pain were immediately relieved
After trying chiropractic treatments and months of physical therapy that produced little to no results we had about given up on the medical field. Fortunately Connie found Peak Chiropractic! After her first adjustment she had amazing results, she was able to stand up straight for the first time in years, hip discomfort and shoulder pain were immediately relieved which led me to quickly make an appointment. Range of motion in my neck was pretty much non-existent and after my first adjustment was tremendously improved! Connie and I both continue to see great improvements in our overall health and are amazed at our progress. It is definitely a journey well worth taking. Drs. John and Kyara are both very knowledgeable and professional with the added bonus of being wonderful and caring people, their passion to help is very evident in everything they do. Highly recommended, it is a life changing experience!

Hydration and Nervous System Health: Why Water Is Essential for Your Body

Most people think of water as something to drink when they're thirsty. But for your nervous system, your brain, and your spinal cord, water is a constant necessity. Here's why hydration belongs at the center of your wellness routine.
