What Causes Migraines?

Migraines are more than just headaches. They are intense, often accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity, and visual disturbances. While the exact cause of migraines varies from person to person, one common factor is misalignments in the upper cervical spine. These misalignments, particularly in the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) vertebrae, can disrupt nerve function, leading to the onset of migraines.

At Peak Chiropractic, our upper cervical chiropractors focus on correcting these misalignments to reduce nerve interference and provide long-term migraine relief.

How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care Works for Migraines

Upper cervical chiropractic focuses on realigning the top two vertebrae in the spine. These vertebrae are located at the base of the skull and play a crucial role in protecting the brainstem. Misalignments in this area can lead to nerve irritation and inflammation, triggering migraine episodes.

Through gentle, targeted adjustments, our chiropractors help restore proper alignment, reducing the pressure on the nervous system. Many patients report a significant reduction in the frequency and intensity of their migraines after just a few sessions.

What to Expect During Chiropractic Treatment for Migraines

Your first visit at Peak Chiropractic will begin with a thorough consultation and diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays or 3D scans, to determine if misalignments are contributing to your migraines. Based on the findings, our upper cervical chiropractors will develop a personalized treatment plan.

Each adjustment is gentle and non-invasive, designed to correct the misalignment without causing discomfort. Over time, you’ll notice fewer migraines and a reduction in related symptoms like neck pain and nausea.

The Gut-Brain Connection: Why Your Gut Health Impacts Your Nervous System

Most people treat their gut and their nervous system as separate systems. They're not. The gut-brain axis — a two-way communication highway running through the vagus nerve — means what happens in your digestive system directly shapes your mood, energy, pain sensitivity, and neurological health. Here's what that means for you.

Concussion Recovery: Why the Neck Matters

Most concussion protocols focus entirely on the brain — but the research is clear: every concussion involves the neck. The force required to cause a concussion is ten times greater than what's needed to injure the upper cervical spine. That means the atlas and axis are almost always affected too. Here's why that matters for recovery, and what gets missed when the neck is ignored.

I sleep better. I don't hurt anymore. If you have given up ever feeling better, try them.
I've been to a lot of chiropractors. Peak Chiropractic is the only one that's actually made a significant difference in my well-being. I went from three to four migraines a month down to maybe one every two or three months. I sleep better. I don't hurt anymore. If you have given up ever feeling better, try them. I'll never be 100% but this is the closest I've ever felt to getting there.

I am personally scared of being twisted and popped and that’s not part of their practice.
Peak Chiropractic is an amazing place. Jon and Kierra are very knowledgeable and friendly! They take the time to explain everything and make sure you’re well taken care of. They specialize in starting at the root of the cause and not over doing it. I am personally scared of being twisted and popped and that’s not part of their practice. They made me feel very comfortable and the recovery room is very comforting after the adjustment. I highly recommend Peak!
